The Team at The Register

Brett Morrissy:

Brett’s love of golf began with his father’s stories of tight matchplay battles at the Colac Golf Club in the early-70s; it grew during school holidays with mates on the municipal courses around Geelong. He began his working career as a chef, allowing him to travel the world for extended periods, although it was not until beginning his first business—a Brumby’s Bakery and settling down, that golf once again took over as a true passion.

A love of golf competition, the game’s natural surrounds, its fascinating architecture and social environment have been the draw cards for him. From the moment Paul Daley mentioned this project to him, Brett has had a desire to see it become a reality—the pursuit of recording aces for the sake of history. All golfers should, once in their lifetime, have the opportunity to experience the thrill of their golf ball finding the hole in a single stroke, and now they have the chance to have it recorded forever, and the fantastic HIO Certificate to honour it.

At his home in Curlewis, Victoria, Brett has had the opportunity to fulfil every ‘armchair architect’s’ dream: designing, planning and building his own par-3 golf hole with bunkers, multiple tees and flags and, even a burn... and still finding time to squeeze in a round at Thirteenth Beach Golf Links, the site of his two aces (both on the Beach course). The first was on the 3rd hole in a social round, with mates Rich and Woody, while the other took place recently on the 12th hole in competition.

He continues to enjoy success in business; believes in encouraging junior participation in golf in one’s local area, and is very proud to be involved in such a worthwhile project as the Official Hole In One Register.
